Preschool Prep

(2 1/2-3 1/2 Year Olds)

At this age, a child's abilities may become a bit more sophisticated, but their basic needs remain the same. The Creative Curriculum grows with them, while maintaining a focus on developing social/emotional, cognitive, physical, & language skills. Weekly themes are used to expand the child's learning on a variety of topics. These themes are incorporated into the classroom's learning centers. Creative Curriculum believes that children learn best by doing. Teachers form the learning around each child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physicals needs. Learning social skills is imperative for the early childhood years. If a child can read, knows all their numbers and letters, yet does not have the ability to follow directions, be kind to friends,

resolve conflict in a meaningful way and share, they may have a very difficult time transitioning into kindergarten. Our teachers work diligently to help children master the tricky task of social skill building while still encouraging a strong foundation to build a healthy self esteem.

Being a preschooler here at LALC is really fun! We utilize the Alpha Friends to teach the ABC's and also utilize Second Step curriculum to teach social emotional skills. We have also been trained to use PBIS.
